Johnston Group created the Advisor Charitable Match Program to team up with our advisors across the country who are supporting community initiatives that make a difference.

Currently, more than 2,000 children in Québec are living with cancer, and close to 300 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Advisor Audrey Girard-Lachapelle’s son Mathis was diagnosed with leukemia in 2024. His first year of treatment was extremely intense, with 90 sessions of chemotherapy in only 7 months.
“He has been fighting this like a superhero,” says Audrey. “It is a huge fight for a little boy who should be out playing with other children.”
Her friend, who is a cancer survivor, organized a marathon, in which Audrey, her husband, and Mathis (in his stroller) ran. The event was to raise funds for Fondation Charles-Bruneau.
Audrey Girard-Lachapelle is the president of Serconam Inc. in Candiac, QC, where she is also the local advisor for Chambers Plan employee benefits. Seconam made a donation to the marathon and Johnston Group, the administrator for Chambers Plan, was happy to match that contribution as part of their Advisor Charitable Match Program. The program aims to draw attention to, and help support, local charities that are having an impact on their community.
Fondation Charles-Bruneau was created in 1990 by a group of parents and friends of children with cancer to establish a place where children could receive treatment and research could be carried out to find a cure.
The foundation is named for a little boy named Charles who was diagnosed with leukemia in 1979. He had boundless optimism and one day proclaimed, “When I grow up, I will be cured!”
“On March 9, 1988, Charles quietly handed the torch to us,” says the foundation. “Through Fondation Charles Bruneau, recognized nationwide for its pediatric hematology and oncology research, Charles continues his inspiring and meaningful journey.”
Today, more than 80% of children with cancer are cured, twice as many as in 1990. Funding for Fondation Charles-Bruneau goes toward the research to help those who are still resistant to treatment.
Mathis is now in the maintenance phase of his treatment, which involves a year of less intense chemotherapy. Audrey continues to fundraise for Fondation Charles Bruneau and the incredible work it does.
“They are the light and hope for every parent like me, to be able to have a future with our child and cure cancer,” says Audrey.
