What Happens to Your Body When You Stop Working Out?

If you started off the summer hitting all of your workout goals, and then slowly fell off the wagon, you might be wondering how long it takes to lose your fitness level. Deconditioning, or detraining, happens when you go beyond a period of time without physical activity. This is different from rest and recovery, which are good for you when you’re training. Deconditiong is an extended rest period that results in the loss of physical fitness. The good news is deconditioning is reversible when you start exercising again.
