The Salvation Army Centre of Hope makes it their business to serve the poor, the homeless, the hungry, the lonely, and the forgotten – people who are experiencing challenges with the most basic necessities of daily living in Abbotsford, BC.
For the team at IGL Benefit Consultants Inc. (IGL) helping these people is not something you can put off to a more convenient time – it’s something that needs to be addressed now.
“We believe that feeding and clothing the most vulnerable is the highest priority in our communities,” says IGL advisor Grayden Biffart. “Meeting the whole person’s needs is respecting their dignity.”
IGL Benefit Consultants Inc. is a local advisor team for Chambers Plan employee benefits in Abbotsford, and Johnston Group, the plan’s administrator, was happy to match their financial contribution.
The Centre of Hope includes the Hope Café, a meal centre, pet friendly shelter, emergency shelter and extreme weather shelter, Next Step Program, family services, daily produce and bread, a medical clinic, outreach teams and housing support.
In their Together Making a Difference newsletter, Major Ruth Gillingham sums up the Centre’s goal. “The Centre of Hope has become a pillar of strength, providing not only essential services but also a compassionate environment where people can rebuild their lives.”
