For many of us, staying focused means limiting our distractions, many of which come courtesy of our smartphones. “Numerous studies have shown that when subjects are given complex puzzles to solve, and are then interrupted, their performance and capacity for complicated problem solving drops not just at the moment they’re distracted, but for some time afterward, too.” Our phones often create the distractions that pull us away from being productive; the less time we spend doing deep work or thinking deeply, the more difficult this skill becomes.
